Day 01: Dehradun /Haridwar Guptkashi (220kms/8 hrs) Height: 1319 MTS.
Morning, meet our representative at your hotel, airport, or railway station. After a brief introduction, begin your journey to Guptkashi via Rudraprayag. En route, witness the beautiful confluence of the Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers at Rudraprayag. The Mandakini River originates from Kedarnath, and the scenic drive alongside the river leads you to Guptkashi. Upon arrival, visit the revered Ardh Narishwar Temple, check in to your hotel, and enjoy an overnight stay in Guptkashi. (Meals: Breakfast & Dinner)
Rudraprayag is one of the sacred Panch Prayag (five confluences) of the Alaknanda River. It is the holy meeting point of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers and serves as an important stop on the route to Kedarnath, which is approximately 86 km away.
Guptkashi, meaning "Hidden Kashi", holds great religious significance in Hindu mythology. It is believed that Lord Shiva concealed himself here while avoiding the Pandava brothers, who were seeking his blessings after the Mahabharata war. Lord Shiva later moved to the Kedarnath Valley, where the Pandavas finally found him.
During the winter months, the priests (Pandas) of the Kedarnath Temple reside in Guptkashi. After the Kedarnath Temple closes for the winter season, the idol of Lord Kedarnath is ceremoniously carried through Guptkashi to Ukhimath, where it remains worshipped until the temple reopens in summer.
Weather in Guptkashi: Summers are pleasant, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 30°C, making it an ideal time to visit. Winters are cold, with significantly lower temperatures.
Day 02: Guptkashi / / Kedarnath (30kms by road & 14 kms Trek one way) Height: 3384 MTS.
After breakfast, begin your journey to the sacred Kedarnath. There are two ways to reach the temple: by helicopter or by trek.
By Helicopter: Our driver will transfer you to your designated helipad (Phata, Guptkashi, Sirsi, or other location) according to your helicopter ticket schedule. Please share your helicopter timing with the driver a day in advance. Different aviation operators have different helipad locations. Our driver will provide pick-up and drop-off services between the hotel and the helipad. Advance helicopter booking is highly recommended.
By Trek: To reach Kedarnath by trekking, first drive to Sonprayag after breakfast. From Sonprayag, local shared jeeps are available to Gaurikund (approximately 5 km) at your own expense. From Gaurikund, begin the scenic 14 km trek to Kedarnath Temple.
Upon reaching Kedarnath, visit the sacred Kedarnath Temple and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. Later, check in to your hotel or ashram and visit the revered Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi. Enjoy an overnight stay at Kedarnath. (Meals: Breakfast & Dinner)
Kedarnath is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and is nestled amidst the majestic Kedarnath mountain range. According to Hindu mythology, after the Kurukshetra War, the Pandavas sought forgiveness from Lord Shiva for the sins of war. Lord Shiva, avoiding them, took the form of a bull and hid at Kedarnath. When discovered, he disappeared into the earth, leaving his hump at Kedarnath. The remaining parts of his body appeared at four other holy shrines—Tungnath, Rudranath, Madhmaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar. Together, these five sacred temples are known as the Panch Kedar.
Weather in Kedarnath: Due to its high altitude, Kedarnath experiences cold weather throughout most of the year. Summers are cool and pleasant, with temperatures around 20°C, and light woollen clothing is recommended. Winters are extremely cold, with temperatures dropping to 0°C or below, accompanied by heavy snowfall. Because of the harsh weather conditions, winter is generally not considered suitable for travel.
Day 03: Kedarnath / / Guptkashi (30kms by road & 14 kms Trek one way) Height: 3384 MTS.
After breakfast, explore the nearby areas of Kedarnath on foot and soak in the peaceful spiritual atmosphere. Later, return to Guptkashi either by helicopter or by trekking, according to your chosen mode of travel.
By Helicopter: Before departing from Kedarnath, inform the driver of your approximate return time and the helipad mentioned on your helicopter ticket. Upon arrival at the helipad, our driver will receive you and transfer you back to your hotel in Guptkashi.
By Trek: Please inform the driver of your expected return time. After completing the trek from Kedarnath to Gaurikund, take a local shared jeep to Sonprayag at your own expense. Our driver will meet you at Sonprayag. Due to parking restrictions, keep the driver's contact number handy and call upon reaching Sonprayag so that the pickup can be arranged smoothly.
Guests planning to start early are advised to collect a packed breakfast from the hotel. Horse, pony, and palki (palanquin) services are also available at Gaurikund for the trek and can be booked directly at your own cost.
Upon arrival in Guptkashi, check in to your hotel and relax. Enjoy an overnight stay in Guptkashi. (Meals: Breakfast & Dinner)
